Dental cleaning

What is teeth cleaning and how is it done?
Dental cleaning is a simple procedure that is not accompanied by pain or any discomfort and involves the removal of dental calculus with special tools in order to prevent or diagnose caries, plaque and gingivitis problems. The result offers a very pleasant feeling of coolness, freshness, cleanliness, smooth texture of the teeth and a whiter smile.
The process is very easy. Initially, it begins with an examination of the patient’s general oral health by the dentist. This is important as it can identify any damage spots and focus more on them during cleaning. This check is done using a small round mirror, with which he checks the teeth and gums to identify any signs of inflammation. Then follows the ultrasound, which is carried out with a tool that throws water with vibration and thus, the stone and pigments are removed.
In some cases of patients, such as children, the elderly or patients who need it, fluoridation can also be applied. Whatever procedure the doctor has followed, the frequency of recurrence is the same.
What is the purpose of teeth cleaning?
Teeth cleaning aims at maintaining the health of the teeth and the mouth in general, but also at the early diagnosis of more serious problems in the area. If oral health is not right, the gums slowly decline and diseases such as tooth decay, plaque, gingivitis and periodontitis can lead to total tooth loss.
In addition, there is also the aesthetic side of the result. With teeth cleaning repeated every 6 months, the patient can have a whiter and brighter smile with healthy teeth.

What you should pay attention to before and after teeth cleaning
Before teeth cleaning, the patient does not need to pay attention to anything. On the contrary, after the cleaning, he should be meticulous in using a special mouthwash for 3 days, as antisepsis is required due to the inflammation created in the gums by the application of the procedure. Of course, daily brushing and flossing at least 2 times a day will help maintain the result for a longer period of time. The more regular a patient is in proper oral hygiene, the longer their teeth will stay white, bright and clean.
Tips to keep the effect of teeth cleaning longer
You’ve done your cleaning and now you want the beautiful result you see in your mirror to be preserved as long as possible… There are ways!
You should brush your teeth every night before going to bed. It is important not to sleep with the germs of the day and the food you ate on your teeth and gums.
When we say to brush your teeth, it should be done the right way. Brush your teeth well for a long time, giving the necessary time to each quadrant of your mouth. Prefer an electric toothbrush that will help you more in this. Then, use interdental brushes or dental floss and remove any food debris that may be left between the teeth. Finally, rinse the mouth thoroughly with a mild mouthwash. Of course, after you brush your teeth at night, you don’t eat anything again, because otherwise the food will remain in the teeth until the morning.
When we brush our teeth we should also clean our tongue with the toothbrush (with gentle and soft movements). Many germs also accumulate on the tongue. Mouthwash also helps to clean the tongue.
Teeth whitening will give an even brighter and whiter result. You can do it at home, in the doctor’s office or in combination, and get a real white and sparkling smile.
Try to avoid the consumption of sugar (it is hidden in many foods) and acidic foods. Sugar is known to be the food of germs and bacteria, so the longer it stays in the mouth area the more damage it does. Prefer seasonal fruits and vegetables, which will also improve the smell of the breath.
It is perhaps the most important of all. No matter how hard we try on our own, plaque cannot be removed by any means other than the dentist’s tools. However, if you manage to formally follow the above tips, you may be able to postpone the cleaning of your teeth for a little while later.
